Corvette forum and Corvette forum
3:43
welcoming Corvette enthusiasts from
3:45
around the world as I was reading my
3:47
America sports car Magazine from the
3:48
National Corvette Museum earlier this
3:50
year there was an article that really
3:52
caught my eye this article is about a
3:55
group called Elfie silver Pearl
3:57
Sisterhood and Lexi Stewart development
3:59
coordinator for the National Corvette
4:01
Museum is here with me to talk more
4:03
about this Lexi welcome to Corvette
4:05
today thank you so much Steve I'm really
4:08
excited to be here and talk with you
4:10
today especially about The Sisterhood
4:12
they're a great group of gals I'm so
4:15
looking forward to this because that
4:16
article was so interesting Lexi first
4:19
off explain to our listeners and viewers
4:22
exactly what elf's silver Pearl
4:24
Sisterhood actually is absolutely so The
4:27
Sisterhood is really a philanthropic
4:29
group group of women and they have all
4:31
come together because of a shared
4:32
passion Corvette all gifts to the
4:35
National Corvette Museum are impactful
4:37
but the sisters realized that when you
4:39
get 25 or 30 ladies together making
4:42
gifts it really gets things going and
4:44
can make things happen that's really
4:46
impactful now in 2019 Leslie Gardner
4:49
helped start The Sisterhood didn't she
4:52
yeah so Leslie actually worked with the
4:54
previous development coordinator to
4:55
create an opportunity for the women of
4:58
Corvette to make their own impact on
5:00
preserving and sharing Corvette's story
5:02
they've been an active group for five
5:04
years now that's really cool now to be a
5:06
member of The Sisterhood what is
5:08
required and what are the dues so to be
5:11
a sister you really just need to get
5:14
connected with me it's also very
5:15
important to connect with the other
5:17
sisters but once that annual
5:19
contribution is made to me and right now
5:22
it's $1,000 a year once that is paid to
5:25
me you're officially considered active
5:27
you get on the email lists get the
5:29
newsletter and the invitations to the
5:31
meeting very nice and I know The
5:33
Sisterhood has raised a lot of money in
5:35
the first year they raised
5:37
$28,000 didn't they they did so that
5:40
first year was amazing and you know that
5:42
was just the collection of their
5:44
individual contributions one of the new
5:46
pieces that they're getting ready to
5:48
kick off is leading fundraisers to
5:50
further support their annual initiatives
5:52
that's really cool and this is all based
5:54
upon zor Arcus dun's wife Elfie dunoff
5:57
isn't it yes the famous
6:00
co-pilot she just embodied such Grace
6:03
and such knowledge and passion about
6:05
Corvette and the women really feel that
6:07
she was an idea role model really for
6:09
you know what women in the Corvette
6:11
industry can and should do that's really
6:13
cool well Lexi let's take our first
6:15
break when we come back we'll talk more
6:17
about Elfie silver Pearl Sisterhood

this is the Corvette Today podcast with
9:03
Steve
9:04
Garrett thanks for checking out Corvette
9:06
today on podcast and YouTube it's the
9:09
only current podcast dedicated to
9:11
Corvette Corvette today is brought to
9:13
you by wheelcraft dress up your Corvette
9:15
in bright Chrome or black chrome wheels
9:17
wheelcraft will be at the National
9:18
Corvette Museum's anniversary
9:20
celebration in caravan you can pre-order
9:22
your wheels at wheelcraft
9:29
wheelcraft will install your wheels at
9:31
the show then you can drive home in
9:33
style with wheelcraft I'm your host
9:35
Steve Garrett with me is Lexi Stewart
9:37
the development coordinator at the
9:38
National Corvette Museum we are talking
9:40
about Elie's silver pearal Sisterhood
9:43
Lexi how does The Sisterhood decide on
9:46
what to contribute to the National
9:47
Corvette Museum I know that you usually
9:50
give them three ideas but when does all
9:52
this come about when does it all happen
9:54
so The Sisterhood meets twice a year
9:56
once at The Bash and once at the
9:58
anniversary oh
9:59
yeah so usually at The Bash it's more of
10:02
an activity together getting together
10:04
talking about some things they'd like to
10:06
see for the year and then at the
10:08
anniversary celebration is when they
10:10
actually vote on what their initiative
10:12
will be for the year nice yeah so we
10:15
give them three ideas and we try to keep
10:18
them diverse give them some variety in
10:20
the things that they're supporting so
10:21
whether it's collections based education
10:24
based or even something tangible that's
10:26
really cool now let's talk about some of
10:28
the funds from the The Sisterhood that
10:30
have gone to the National Corvette
10:31
Museum and what have they helped fund so
10:34
the very first year they did a damsels
10:36
and design exhibit if you've been
10:39
through our driven by Design area you've
10:41
seen the Great Big Color Wheel area just
10:45
with all of the possible colors that
10:47
could have been used in Corvette design
10:49
and they really found this to resonate
10:51
with the group because it highlighted
10:53
the work that women have played in
10:54
Corvette's design after that they
10:57
supported Studio X in the MCM family
10:59
education Gallery another great
11:02
Testament to connecting back all of the
11:04
work that's been done at GM and in 23 we
11:08
kicked off a new fun of field trip
11:09
initiative I'm not sure if you've heard
11:12
but you know fun of field trip our
11:13
program has been around for many years
11:15
but last year we decided to start a new
11:18
initiative where we would surprise an
11:20
entire Elementary School with the
11:22
opportunity to come tour and explore the
11:25
NCM this really resonated with The
11:27
Sisterhood as many of them have
11:28
backgrounds an education or children and
11:30
grandchildren of their own so I think
11:33
that because this program helps us
11:34
Foster the minds and passion of the Next
11:37
Generation the sisters were really
11:39
excited their combined efforts together
11:41
actually gave us enough funds to support
11:43
three whole schools wow that's amazing
11:46
now this year when does The Sisterhood
11:48
get together and where will the donation
11:50
go or do we know yet we don't know yet
11:53
so during our great Caravan and
11:56
anniversary celebration this year the
11:58
sisters will be meeting at the Museum in
12:00
the boardroom on Thursday morning and
12:03
during that meeting they will actually
12:05
decide where the 2024 funds will go very
12:08
nice well Lexi let's take our final
12:10
break when we come back let's talk more
12:12
about Elie's silver Pearl Sisterhood on
12:15

14:52

14:54
Steve Garrett with me is Lexi Stewart
14:56
the development coordinator at the
14:58
National Corvette Museum Museum we are
14:59
talking about elf's silver Pearl
15:01
Sisterhood Lexi when a woman joins The
15:04
Sisterhood with her $1,000 donation what
15:07
do they get from that you know when they
15:10
first make that contribution they're
15:12
joining a community with that shared
15:14
passion and they get both a literal and
15:16
figurative seat at the table that's
15:18
really nice and really The Sisterhood
15:20
provides women with a means to get more
15:23
involved in the National Corvette Museum
15:25
don't they absolutely you know all of
15:28
the fil anthropic work that happens at
15:31
and around the museum just goes to
15:33
further promote our mission you know
15:35
preserving and celebrating America
15:38
sports cars Legacy and so everything
15:40
that they do is really centered back to
15:42
that but it also gives them the
15:44
opportunity to connect with women they
15:46
may have never met we getting close to
15:49
40,000 members here at the National
15:51
Corvette Museum and our event
15:53
registration is continuously growing and
15:56
a lot of times if you not in a club
15:59
together or you haven't been here or
16:01
involved with the museum for the same
16:03
amount of time there's a lot of folks
16:05
that you never meet so The Sisterhood
16:06
really provides women with a core group
16:08
of ladies that they can be excited to
16:10
see at least twice a year that's really
16:12
nice now how does a woman join Elie's
16:14
silver Pearl Sisterhood and do you
16:16
remember how many members you've got in
16:18
there right now by the way yeah we
16:20
fluctuate a little bit just because
16:22
sisters are considered active once their
16:24
annual contribution has made right now
16:26
we've got about 26 active sisters we
16:29
actually had three new members join just
16:32
at the bash this past year nice now how
16:35
can a woman join The Sisterhood you know
16:37
anybody who's interested in joining I
16:39
would highly recommend that they connect
16:41
with some of the current sisters I as
16:44
the development coordinator here at the
16:45
Museum and honored to be a facilitator
16:48
for this group but it's really the
16:50
sisters you know making the decisions
16:52
doing the work and they at anniversary
16:54
this year will be sporting their brand
16:57
new lanyards and they're a bright
16:59
Tiffany blue color so this is going to
17:01
make them very distinguishable so highly
17:03
recommend if you see somebody with those
17:05
lanyards on I promise they want to tell
17:07
you about the sister that's nice now you
17:10
had said you're the coordinator so
17:12
you're kind of the liaison from the
17:14
museum to The Sisterhood aren't you yes
17:16
you know my role is facilitating their
17:18
meetings providing them with the options
17:21
and you know The Sisterhood is a great
17:23
group of ladies they are very passionate
17:25
and very dedicated and so it's just my
17:28
job to make sure that they have the
17:30
space to meet they have the means that
17:32
they need and really connecting them
17:34
with what's currently or upand coming at
17:36
the museum for those ideas on what needs
17:39
their support the most very nice now
17:41
once again if someone wants to join can
17:43
they get a hold of you or the National
17:45
Corvette Museum to join The Sisterhood
17:47
absolutely I highly recommend giving me
17:50
a call directly email if they've already
17:52
