3:14
from around the world well here we are
3:16
my friends it's episode number 200 it's
3:19
a monumentous event in my book and also
3:23
we're approaching year number five of
3:25
Corvette today I thought I would take
3:27
this episode and look back over the past
3:29
200 episodes and talk to you about how
3:31
Corvette today got started in the
3:32
background and the whole beginning it
3:34
started back right at Co I'm sure just
3:37
like many of you I got fured from my day
3:40
job during Co and then I'm thinking to
3:42
myself okay what do I do you know I'm a
3:44
disc jockey in the radio here in Kansas
3:46
City been on the air for 46 and A2 years
3:49
I'm on the number one radio station in
3:51
Kansas City which is a classic rock
3:53
station it's called 101 the fox kcfx
3:57
Kansas City this is also the number one
3:59
classic rock radio station in the United
4:02
States I'm the longest 10e disc jockey
4:04
on the radio here in Kansas City and
4:07
also being the president of the Corvette
4:08
club when I got fur it's like okay what
4:11
do I do now my daughter Lexi in her
4:14
Infinite Wisdom she said dad do a
4:17
podcast podcasts are really popular
4:20
right now you're a radio guy you know
4:22
audio like the back of your hand she
4:24
said do something that you know and love
4:27
something you know a lot about something
4:28
you're passionate about like Corvettes
4:30
do a Corvette podcast and I thought to
4:33
myself you know what maybe that has some
4:35
legs so the first thing I did was is I
4:38
looked up and Googled Corvette podcast
4:41
this was at the end of March in 2020
4:44
believe it or not my friends there was
4:46
no current podcasts in March of 2020 on
4:49
Corvettes the most current or the most
4:51
recent podcast was back four or five
4:54
years ago interestingly enough in
4:57
January of 2020 I had open heart surgery
5:00
so when I went back to work in March of
5:02
2020 at the beginning we were talking
5:03
about getting furload and everything and
5:05
that's how it all came about so after I
5:07
Googled Corvette podcast I started
5:09
thinking about this maybe that's my
5:11
opening so I did a little bit of
5:13
research and started putting things
5:15
together and as you know Corvette today
5:17
is structured like a radio show there's
5:19
three segments there is a commercial
5:21
break in between each of the three
5:23
segments that's how I got started in mid
5:25
April of 2020 it took me two or 3 weeks
5:28
to kind of put this all together in my
5:30
head and stuff like that my friend
5:32
Jeremy wellborne from the southwest
5:34
Oklahoma Corvette club he's the
5:35
president was guest number one then I
5:38
went on to Mike Ferman the number one
5:40
Corvette salesperson in the world he's
5:42
on multiple episodes Corvette today
5:45
number two number 60 number 174 and then
5:48
number 190 as a matter of fact that
5:51
second episode with Mike in it is today
5:53
still one of the largest listen to shows
5:56
of Corvette today history then after
5:58
that I went to Keith cornette from
6:00
Corvette blogger.com and it just went on
6:03
and on and on so I started getting
6:04
guests for every single week but I had
6:07
an idea first I wanted to get a title
6:10
for the show that didn't expire the name
6:12
didn't expire that's why I chose
6:14
Corvette today so I called Keith in midt
6:17
of 2020 and I said Keith you know the
6:20
show is called Corvette today you do a
6:22
daily blog on Corvettes called Corvette
6:25
blogger I said you know what what if we
6:27
did a news and headline show and see how
6:30
it goes and if it goes pretty well maybe
6:32
we'll do it like once a month well we
6:34
started our first news and headlines
6:36
show on Corvette today on September 7th
6:39
of 2020 that show was so popular and was
6:42
so well-received I called Keith back and
6:45
said dude once a month ain't going to
6:46
hack it we're going to have to do this
6:48
every other week so we've been doing our
6:50
news and headline shows every other week
6:53
since September 7th of 2020 so it's a
6:56
really big anniversary not only for
6:58
Corvette today but also for our news and
7:00
headline show and to this day Corvette
7:03
today is the only current podcast on
7:06
Corvette almost 5 years later and 200
7:09
episodes I also started a YouTube
7:11
channel in March of 2020 what I do is I
7:14
take the audio from the podcast and I
7:16
marry pictures and video to create the
7:18
YouTube version of Corvette today so
7:21
whether you like to watch it on YouTube
7:23
or listen to it on podcast you get the
7:25
exact same content on either side and
7:27
our website is Corvette to . you can
7:30
access everything there you can join our
7:32
Facebook group we also have an email
7:34
that goes out twice per week talking
7:37
about what's on Corvette today then on
7:39
Thursdays I do a midweek reminder about
7:41
hey don't forget about Corvette today
7:43
here's what's on this week plus I also
7:45
do a here's what's coming up next week
7:48
on Corvette today so that's the story of
7:50
Corvette today we're going to take a
7:52
quick break and when we come back on
7:54
segment number two we're going to talk
7:56
about some of the guests that have been
7:57
on Corvette today coming up next next on
7:59

4231 I'm your host Steve Garrett we're
18:37
talking about the 200th episode of
18:39
Corvette today and almost 5 years of
18:41
existence in this final segment of
18:43
Corvette today we're going to talk about
18:45
some of the big highlights that have
18:46
happened over the last four and 3/4
18:48
years during Corvette today's existence
18:51
first having the three horsemen on the
18:53
show Haron Charles Josh holder and Taj
18:55
juer was a first they were on the show
18:57
in early May of 2023 and this was really
19:00
a first for not only Corvette today but
19:02
for the existence of Corvette we had
19:04
harlon Charles the brand manager Josh
19:07
holder the chief engineer and Taj juter
19:09
the executive chief engineer on the show
19:12
at the same time and again that was a
19:14
first this has never happened in the
19:16
70-year history of Corvette so make sure
19:18
you watch it and listen to it the video
19:21
is of all four of us talking so instead
19:24
of doing just pictures and video to
19:25
match the audio we actually did a live
19:28
video of that show and again that's
19:30
episode number 160 that came out on May
19:33
8th of
19:34
2023 also we had Dave kig on the show
19:37
Dave is the host of and rides on
19:39
Motor Trend TV he's with K dig at design
19:42
and thanks to my buddy Ken lingan felter
19:44
who's been on the show multiple times as
19:46
well Ken connected me with Dave Kendig
19:49
and that was a really fun episode having
19:51
Dave on the show in March of 2023 I was
19:54
at Amelia Island at the concour when all
19:57
three of the Cunningham cour Corvettes
19:58
that raced at 1960 at Lama were debuted
20:01
again together with Kevin McCay from
20:03
Corvette repair in Long Island so on
20:06
Saturday I went to the concour event
20:08
there at Amelia Island and I'm walking
20:10
through the cars and seeing all these
20:11
beautiful multi-million dollar cars and
20:14
there's a guy that has one of the
20:16
Cunningham Corvettes from the ca
20:18
generation are you familiar with those
20:20
they made only 60 of these and this was
20:22
car number three so I'm looking at it
20:25
and I had my Corvette today polo shirt
20:27
on it had the logo and my name on the
20:29
shirt and the guy that owns the car came
20:31
over and started talking to me I told
20:33
him congratulations on these cars these
20:35
are $160,000 cars and they're pretty
20:38
darn cool so all of a sudden he
20:40
recognized me and he said you're Steve
20:42
Garrett from Corvette today I said yeah
20:44
I am he said I love your show I listen
20:47
to it I'm a faithful listener have been
20:49
listening for years and then he did
20:52
something that really really surprised
20:54
me he said Steve would you sign my
20:56
Corvette and I said oh my gosh I said I
20:59
don't want to devalue or deface your car
21:02
especially a C8 and a Cunningham
21:04
Corvette he said no no actually this
21:06
will add value to my car so after 5
21:10
minutes or so of him trying to talk me
21:11
into it I finally said okay I will sign
21:14
your Corvette and I signed it around the
21:17
surround of the frunk in the front trunk
21:19
of the car if you're watching the
21:21
YouTube video you're seeing the picture
21:23
of my signature on his car that was
21:25
pretty cool and we also had a Corvette
21:27
today exclusive you know who Mike Ferman
21:30
is Mike is the number one Corvette
21:31
salesperson in the world Mike has been
21:34
on the show four different times I think
21:36
we got to highlight the sale and
21:38
delivery of Corvette number 5000 and
21:40
Corvette number 6000 on our show here on
21:43
Corvette today plus Mike was honored to
21:45
be able to purchase the 2024 Corvette
21:48
c806 number one VIN number 001 and we
21:53
debuted that and we announced that on
21:55
Corvette today that was really exciting
21:58
Mike has got a big announcement Mike
22:00
this is a Corvette today exclusive first
22:02
of all thanks for announcing it on
22:03
Corvette today tell everybody about the
22:05

22:17
take delivery on October 10th of VIN

22:25
anybody knows anything about Corvettes
22:27
they're built sequentially any serial
22:29
number one of anything is really rare
22:32
but to get it in a Corvette is just
22:34
super cool I'm blown away I really happy
22:37
with it it's a Riptide blue obviously it
22:39
was the first Riptide blue Z06 built it
22:42
has the tension and Twilight blue dipped

interior I'm just thrilled to death to
22:46
own it and it's in my garage since a
22:48
little over a month ago five six weeks
22:50
ago I got it also was pretty exciting to
22:52
have the guys from Australia at Carbon
22:54
Revolution who make the carbon fiber
22:56
wheels for the Z 6 on the show we had a
22:59
guy from Australia on with a guy from
23:01
Detroit simultaneously here on Corvette
23:04
today also we had episodes dedicated to
23:07

23:08
