dad. Your dad was a GM executive, wasn't

Yeah, actually, my dad worked in

management at a factory in Uklid, Ohio.

Early on, they built the Nomad wagons

and so on and so forth. Towards the end

of his stay at that facility, they were
4:18
building the old Tornado. Fisher Body

was still being kept a little bit

separate from the rest of GM. They
4:24
always wanted to make that Fisher body
4:26
something special. But over that time,

he got an opportunity to get involved in

a lot of really great cars. Not only the
4:33
Tornado, but the Cadillac Alante, and
4:35
really ended his career working in
4:38
quality control for Cadillac.

That's cool. What iconic cars, too. The

Tornado and the Cadillac. Oh my gosh,

that's awesome. Now, you and I have been

friends for a while now. You purchased
4:48
your first Corvette back in 1977.

Talk about the memories of that first

Corvette purchase for you. Well, as time

went on and everything else, I was

really, really focused on Corvette. I

mean, I'm a Corvette guy right to the

core. That 1977, it was a car that was

bought by a GM employee. He had to keep

it for 6 months, and at the end of the 6

months, he knew how much I wanted it.

And so, we made an arrangement for me to

purchase that car just as soon as he was

done with it. And I just drove the

daylights out of it. As you know, we're

up in Michigan here and Corvettes are
5:18
not necessarily C3s especially the best
5:21
cars in the winter, but I drove that car

right through the winter as well.

That's fantastic. What a great story. Do

you have a favorite Corvette or a

Yeah, I like to tell people a little

bit, you know, because of my dad's

position with General Motors, when I was

about 10 years old, he took me to an

open house at the tech center. They had

the 63 split window Corvette there. Now,

mind you, I was 10 years old, so I was

already a car guy. I think I owned every

Matchbox car that had ever been made.

Really, really focused in a lot of the

upcoming cars. That car just took the

legs right out from underneath me. I got

to tell you, Steve, I can still remember

the day looking through the back window

of that car and thinking to myself, "How

cool is this?" And I have to also say, I

think I became a Corvette guy for life

at that time.

Window got me into Corvettes for sure.

It's such a gorgeous car. And then they

did the thing later on with the

Corvettes, the astronauts and things of

that nature. So that's what got me.

always liked the oddball stuff. You

know, there's a Greenwood sport wagon in

there. There's another Greenwood Turbo.

You know, these cars had a lot of

Greenwood was quite a character and a

racer, but also had a flare for taking

come and visit the collection and see

of the install packages for the C8

Corvette, Ken, because you had alluded

to that just a second ago, and like you

said, the car itself is great right out

of the box, but you've got some stuff

that really pumps up power

and it was a bigger challenge than I
13:29
think we've ever had. I think most
13:30
people know that the engine management
13:32
system in the C8 Corvette is completely
13:34
encrypted. And so, we couldn't tune or
13:37
build the cars like we had up through
13:39
C7. We really had to get an
13:41
understanding of how that engine
13:42
management system worked. And when I say
13:44
encrypted, I mean it was very, very
13:47
difficult to get in. But with some help,
13:49
we finally were able to do it.
13:50
Initially, without getting into the
13:53
engine management system, we created a
13:55
intake, throttle, body, headers, and
13:56
exhaust. And that took the car from $495
13:59
horsepower stock up to almost 600.

Wow.

And so that was a great start. That
14:04
package runs, I think, something in the
14:06
10 to 12,000 range, depending on what
14:09
you want to do with exhaust. You really
14:10
do feel the improvement in the
14:12
performance right away. The exhaust
14:14
tone. Also, I happened to have a 2020
14:17
car that I got pretty early. I think it
14:19
was about the 300th car that was built
14:21
and added this package, intake, throttle
14:23
body, headers, and exhaust, and it's my
14:25
daily driver to this day. The noise it
14:27
makes alone is enough to get a Corvette
14:29
guy going.

That's awesome. But the improvement in

the horsepower and then you know you
14:33
take it to a show and open up the back
14:35
and show the engine off and there's that
14:37
nice looking carbon fiber intake sitting

on the top. It does all the kinds of
14:41
things you'd hope to to Corvette lovers.

Buddy, you're talking my language with

carbon fiber stuff. That's for sure.

Right. And then to make it better, we've

always worked with a lot of the
14:50
companies that build superchargers, but

we've got a special relationship with

Magnus. And so once we got through and

understood what we needed to do through

the engine management system, we
14:59
connected with them. And of course with

the room that's in the back, we had to
15:03
make sure we had a different style of
15:04
supercharger so that everything could
15:06
fit underneath there. They worked with

us. We developed a supercharger package.

And that package increases the
15:12
horsepower upwards of 700 horsepower,

maybe even as much as 710 horsepower.

That's amazing.

Yeah. The noise alone, you not only have

the exhaust tone, but you have the wind

of the supercharger, which most of us

really, really like and we like to hear

it and we like to watch it perform. This

car is just amazing. That is fantastic.

Ken, let's talk about some of the stuff

that you can get alart. Now, you

mentioned Magnus. They've got the

superchargers. We talked about

exhaustes, the carbon fiber intake

manifold. You got fuel pumps, valve

train upgrade kits, fuel injectors,

got just about the whole menu of things

that you'd want to do. And like I said

earlier, it depends on how you want to

add. When we work with a car that

somebody wants to race, we've got alon

that the car hugs the ground a little

got a nice wide body. doesn't actually

take the body, but it adds to the

existence of the regular C8 Corvette and

gets a little wider stance on the car.

There's a lot of things available and

we've got cars that we've done in the

past that people are really, really

happy with. So, we're very comfortable

with the partners we work with to get

those things done.

this. I saw this and I was really

intrigued. You have a Linganfelter

So, you know, we have two shops. We have

a shop in Decar, Indiana. That was the

original shop and then we've got a shop

up in Michigan here in Wixom. But the

demand on the supercharged Corvette

required us to have some other shops

that we could be comfortable with

install the package. So we did our

homework and we picked a group of shops

that we were really comfortable with,

some brands that had been around a long
17:28
time and let them do the install on the
17:31
C8 Corvette. Of course, they came up, we

trained them, we showed them what to do,
17:35
we gave them all the benefit of all the
17:37
wisdom we've acquired while we're
17:38
working in this car. So, right now there
17:41
are about eight of them, but we intend
17:43
to add to that group and show some
17:45
others how to install so people don't
17:46
have to take their car and send it all
17:48
the way to Michigan here to get it done.

You know, that's great because I am not

a wrencher. I love power, but I'm not

good with my hands. So, having this
