3:47

3:49
and headlines with my pal Keith cornette
3:51
from Corvette blogger.com Keith with me
3:54
every other week and we keep you current
3:55
and upto-date on what's happening with
3:57
America Sports Car Keith welcome back to
3:59
the show everybody including myself
4:02
missed you on the last news and the
4:03
headline show buddy well I appreciate
4:05
that and the funny thing is I did get a
4:06
couple emails myself of people saying
4:08
the same thing it was a very scary
4:10
situation we actually had two hurricanes
4:12
within two weeks the very first one
4:14
Helen that's where we got a lot of
4:16
flooding and that's where most of our
4:17
damage came from and then they scared
4:19
the crap out of us so we left for Milton
4:22
that was really a wind event here so
4:24
there's a lot of branches and stuff down
4:25
like that the house came through okay we
4:27
had very little damage a couple things
4:29
got hurt but but for the most part
4:30
anything that can be replaced will be
4:32
replaced so feel pretty good about it
4:34
that's awesome buddy we're glad to have
4:35
you back well thank you so much let's
4:37
start off like we always do with a
4:39
production update from the Bowling Green
4:40
assembly plant absolutely so our last
4:42
count of current 2025 Corvette BS we're
4:45
looking back at the last week and we see
4:46
that the stingray is actually off to
4:47
another great start with 40003 built
4:50
while the Z6 is at 1,27 and the erray is
4:54
at 228 so we're looking at so far a
4:57
total of
4:58
5,258 Corvettes produced so far for the
5:00
2025 model year again a great start we
5:03
just started September 9th so we're well
5:05
on the way we're going to talk about
5:06
this a little bit more in the 2024
5:07
production stats but I went back and I
5:09
looked at the current breakdown for
5:11
these numbers and right now the plan is
5:12
building 70% sting rays 19 a. half% z6s
5:16
and a little over 4 and a half% or so
5:18
eays it's still a nice mix in there we'd
5:21
still like to see that eay number come
5:22
up a little bit but for the most part
5:24
they are cranking out these cars seeing
5:26
really no issues that's great and we
5:28
also have constraints for Oct 2 don't we
5:30
yeah the last constraint report really
5:32
gave us some good news because now we
5:34
see that all three colors are available
5:36
for unlimited ordering this is the seing
5:38
orange metallic hysteria purple and the
5:41
competition yellow they can be ordered
5:42
across the board now they always did
5:44
that little ramp up first but that's
5:46
open for the stingray same same q9i
5:48
gloss black wheels and then there's a
5:50
limit on 1 LT trim packages for the eay
5:53
this is interesting cuz it's carbon
5:54
fiber related H you couldn't get the
5:57
visible carbon fiber ground effects with
5:59
the eay they are only saving those for
6:01
the Z06 and those cars that have the
6:04
high Wings if you did the painted carbon
6:06
fiber you have to pair that obviously to
6:08
the painted carbon fiber High wi and
6:10
then the only other thing we saw was the
6:11
gloss black spider forged wheels for ZO6
6:14
as well we got some new stuff coming
6:15
online we're still waiting to see some
6:17
of those new Wheels I believe for the
6:18
ZO6 for the most part it's a pretty
6:21
standard constraint report from what
6:22
we've seen over the last few months all
6:23
right that sounds good then we also had
6:25
the 2025 eay officially arrived down
6:28
under which is pretty cool too yeah this
6:30
is the 2025 model so when I was looking
6:32
at the production numbers there's
6:34
actually kind of a gap in there at the
6:36
beginning of the 2025 model year for the
6:38
eay and it looks like well hey maybe
6:40
that's what they were doing is they were
6:41
building some e-rays for export
6:43
Australia New Zealand got their cars
6:45
that was announced by GM specialty
6:47
Vehicles there's nice because now you
6:49
got some comparison videos coming out
6:50
from some of the Australian magazines
6:52
down there that are driving the eay and
6:54
the Z6 for those that are wondering the
6:56
starting MSRP for the eay in Australia
6:59
is
7:01
$275,000 but that's Australian dollars
7:03
and that's also before what they call
7:05
their onroad costs which adds taxes and
7:08
Licensing and all some other stuff and I
7:10
hear that's a hefty number as well again
7:12
if you want to see some track tests of
7:13
the eay the Z6 together on YouTube with
7:16
right-hand drive configurated cars
7:18
there's some cool stuff that's out there
7:19
right now and didn't GM specially
7:21
Vehicles release a new Corvette video
7:22
too oh Steve it's so good yeah if you
7:25
haven't seen this it's really one of the
7:26
best overall Corvette commercials I've
7:28
seen they call It Love is All Around It
7:31
features a lady driving an eay a man
7:33
driving a stingray and then there's some
7:35
back and forth on the track between
7:36
these two cars when suddenly a white Z6
7:38
comes up and joins the fun with them I
7:40
said in my blog post that it's really
7:42
cool because the vehicles are doing the
7:44
talking but the visuals from it it's
7:46
like an emotional reaction from how the
7:48
drivers are feeling that fun and freedom
7:51
and the competition so I mean it's a
7:53
really a fantastic video obviously would
7:55
love to see that over here but it's
7:56
right-hand drive cars but it's really
7:58
one of the best Corvette commercial I've
7:59
seen nice and you can see it on Corvette
8:01
blogger.com so make sure to check that
8:03
out also buddy I was really excited
8:05
about this we got a top speed for the C8
8:08
ZR1 at 233 mph again once again
8:12
Unthinkable right Steve I mean no one I
8:14
don't think expected that I think a lot
8:16
of people are thinking 212 was the C7
8:18
maybe we're looking at 220 225 somewhere
8:21
in there for them to go 233 is just
8:24
amazing this was done with GM president
8:26
Mark Royce doing the driving the test
8:28
was conducted at the at P track in
8:30
penberg Germany and that was the same
8:31
red missier one that we saw the Corvette
8:33
team driving at the nurur ring last
8:35
month when Chevy does these top speed
8:37
runs they actually run in two directions
8:39
and then they average the difference so
8:40
the first run netted a top speed of
8:45
233.356
8:47
again amazing times but here's the thing
8:49
during the testing they had five
8:51
engineers and then they had two ZR1
8:53
development cars and they all exceeded
8:55
230 mph across multiple runs it's a
8:58
fantastic event the video out there you
9:00
got to watch it if you haven't seen it
9:02
the ZR1 that they used is just a
9:03
standard chassis in the arrow package
9:05
with the standard low spoiler had carbon
9:07
fiber ground effects Michelin Pilot
9:09
Sport 4S tires and aluminum wheels I
9:11
think other than some racing seats this
9:13
is like the car that people are trying
9:14
to buy these days yeah you know what I
9:16
watched the video and Mark Roy was
9:18
obviously like you said driving the car
9:20
but he had a passenger so if you get a
9:22
real race car driver and no passenger I
9:25
bet that ZR1 is going to go 235 plus mph
9:29
might have had it in there on one of
9:30
those runs if you would have had a good
9:32
Tailwind on it you know might have even
9:34
been higher we saw that I think with the
9:36
C7 Z1 the difference between the two
9:38
directions was like 2 or 3 miles hour
9:40
yeah here it was a very small window of
9:43
difference so again 233 M hour for the
9:45
Corvette ZR1 amazing that is truly
9:48
amazing indeed if you have a C8 Z6 with
9:50
leaky engine coolant we've got a service
9:52
Bolton all ready to go to get that fixed
9:55
yeah the good news is doesn't look that
9:57
major if you're seeing engine coolant on
9:59
the ground on the front of the engine
10:00
this is for the 2023 and 2024 Corvette
10:03
z6s after the car has been parked for a
10:04
little while it looks like it's just a
10:06
hose clamp so if you're seeing that
10:08
stuff you might be able to reach around
10:09
there and look at yourself but take it
10:11
to the dealership they'll get
10:12
investigated and hopefully remedy the
10:14
situation but it looks like it's just a
10:16
hose clamp that was improperly installed
10:18
oh that's good maybe you just tighten
10:19
that thing up and you're good to go then
10:21
right looks like it y awesome and we got
10:23
2024 stats for the Corvette which is
10:25
great this is really early too isn't it
10:27
last year there was all that work you
10:29
you know they had the extended year they
10:30
went 17 months for 2023 that's how we
10:33
got up to that 53,000 cars produced this
10:36
was a more standard year you know
10:37
September to September this is kind of
10:39
what I call a typical production year
10:41
and I think this is what C8 planners
10:43
have been hoping for in that run they
10:45
produced
10:50
42,900 which significantly impacted
10:53
production during the model year I'll
10:55
run through some of these numbers real
10:56
quick I know doing numbers on podcasts
10:59
is sometimes tough to follow along but I
11:00
know people want to know this so best
11:02
selling model by far Stingray coupe with
11:05
42% the Stingray convertible had
11:08
29.8% that was followed by the Z6 Coupe
11:11
at 12 a half% and then the Z6
11:13
convertible with 12.2% the eay coupe
11:17
1.4% and then the eay convertible
11:20
1.9% as we know the eay came in late did
11:22
a really slow ramp up I think the
11:24
overall numbers were like about 3% or so
11:27
for the eay overall it was a good
11:28
production number I know people love to
11:30
know about colors I'll just run through
11:32
them real quick I won't give percentages
11:34
you know the first four colors are like
11:36
high and above the rest of them so
11:37
they're arctic white torch red black and
11:39
red mist and then we're followed by a
11:41
new color Seawolf gray Hypersonic gray
11:44
which is retired Riptide blue rapid blue
11:47
carbon Flash and then amplify orange
11:49
again retired color ceramic Matrix gray
11:51
silver flare and then the last two
11:53
colors cacti and accelerate yellow
11:56
accelerate yellow these produced color
11:58
2. 6% and only 1,133 of those are out
12:02
there we also have these figures for the
12:04
external Colors by model you can check
12:06
that out on Corvette blogger.com and
12:08
then finally if you add up all the
12:10
production numbers in C8 we are at
12:12
169,170 Corvettes produced during the C8
12:16
generation they are really moving some
12:18
Corvettes I think we're going to have
12:19
another banner year this year I think so
12:21
too buddy let's take our first break

Corvette racing and Corvette rumors
16:11
Keith how did Corvette racing do in
16:12
Atlanta for petite Lama and it was just
16:15
again another tough race for both the
16:16
number three and the number four
16:17
Corvettes the number three car actually
16:19
had damage during the Thursday night
16:21
practice and they actually really had to
16:23
scramble to make the race on Saturday
16:24
morning that number three car would
16:26
actually finish in fifth place in class
16:28
they were actually able to be
16:29
competitive once they got back together
16:31
the number four Corvette got hit by an
16:33
lmp3 car during the race damaged the
16:36
front rear suspensions and they knocked
16:38
them down like 50 laps they actually
16:40
able to repair but once they got out
16:41
there their race was basically over with
16:43
the good news is that the Corbat racing
16:45
team won the imsa Michelin endurance cup
16:48
manufacturers championship this is based
16:50
on the five imsa endurance races that
16:52
included petite lemon I think it's been
16:54
a little while since we won that one
16:55
maybe 2015 or so again a really good
16:58
result there and then our friends at AWA
17:00
racing had some great news they actually
17:02
had their ticket punched for an
17:03
automatic entry to the 24 hours L mom
17:05
next year because they won the Bob Akin
17:07
award that Bob Akin award is given to
17:09
the team with the highest rated bronze
17:11
driver oay fidani on the team is that
17:14
guy and so they're going to lamons next
17:16
year so that's good news for them the
17:18
Corvette Z6 gdr program returns to imsa
17:21
competition in January for the Rox 24
17:23
Steve that's like only a month and a
17:25
half away or so I know it's crazy how
17:27
quickly this goes already getting ready
17:29
for 2025 exactly yeah that's crazy and
17:32
we also had some news from dxdt racing
17:35
they're going to go in the MSA GTD class
17:37
next year aren't they yeah they had that
17:39
fantastic season in the GT World
17:41
Challenge America obviously Tommy Milner
17:43
was one of the co- drivers there but
17:45
they made the announcement they are
17:46
moving up to imsa's GTD class with a
17:49
single entry Z06 gt3r of course Tomy
17:51
won't be part of that team but now that
17:53
gives us two Corvette z6s to route for
17:56
in GTD in addition to our two Corvette
17:58
racing GTD Pro classes pretty exciting
18:00
four cars to watch for next season
18:03
that's great I love it in the rumors
18:04
category Keith we think we saw some zor
18:07
prototypes in a Colorado parking garage
18:09
didn't we yeah so corv Engineers they
18:11
were out doing some what we assumed to
18:13
be high altitude testing they were like
18:15
at 9,000 ft wow where they were the
18:18
prototypes were actually discovered
18:19
parked in a hotel parking garage a guy
18:22
videotaped that and shared it with Mike
18:23
Brink on the brink of speed YouTube
18:25
channel he actually got some great looks
18:27
at these cars looking at it head on we
18:29
see that e- style cooling Radiator on
18:31
the front driver side of the car which
18:32
tells us that these are most likely the
18:34
Zora prototypes the really interesting
18:36
thing is that the guy who captured the
18:38
video says he was able to see inside the
18:40
engine hatch on one of the Zoros and he
18:42
says it resembled the zr1's lt7 twin
18:45
turbo engine but instead of that blue
18:47
cover it has a black cover on it again
18:49
we're thinking wow if this is the Zora's
18:51
hybrid system similar to the eBay we
18:53
could be looking at 1,224 horsepower
18:56
combined again no one would have thought
18:58
that just a few years ago if that's what
19:00
it is man that's just going to be
19:02
fantastic and it gives us something else
19:04
to Target some more expensive cars to go
19:06
after yeah that's incredible 1,224
19:09
horsepower would be unbelievable
19:11
Unthinkable Steve Unthinkable

4231 I'm your host Steve Garrett with me
22:22
is Keith cornette from Corvette blogger

22:26
the stories that we cover on the show
22:27
you can always go to Corvette
22:29
blogger.com in this final segment we
22:31
always cover the fun Lighter Side of
22:33
Corvette Keith this is great from the
22:35
National Corvette Museum Amy Harden is
22:37
returning and she's now development
22:39
director at the Museum Amy was
22:41
previously with the NCM from 2018 to
22:43
2020 as a director of philanthropy and
22:46
she's responsible for developing
22:47
establishing and carrying out effective
22:49
multi-year fundraising programs and
22:51
other activities to support the National
22:52
Corvette Museum I thought this was
22:54
interesting because you had talked about
22:55
this before Steve one of her previous
22:57
signature accomplishments at the NCM was
23:00
developing the Elfie silver Pearl
23:02
Sisterhood group yes and then she also
23:04
helped secure funding for the e pierce
23:06
Marshall performance Gallery very glad
23:08
to have Amy back to the National
23:09
Corvette Museum and looking forward to
23:11
saying hi to her at the bash next April
23:13
yeah we're going to have Amy on the show
23:14
as a matter of fact coming up pretty
23:16
soon it's great to have Amy back at the
23:18
Museum we always talked about the C8 Z1
23:20
going 233 mil per hour we had a 2006
23:24
Corvette ZO6 with an LS engine running a
23:27
standard mile at a record
23:30
264 milph wow again amazing speed this
23:34
is a Twin Turbo Corvette with a built
23:36
motor I think it's got really big turbos
23:38
on it like the ZR1 76 millim maybe nice
23:41
but it makes 2200 horsepower and it's
23:43
street legal he actually had some engine
23:46
issues during the event so he only got
23:48
that one run in but that one was all he
23:50
needed to set that record Kelly Beast I
23:52
believe his name is
23:54
263.50 milph in a standing mile just
23:57
amazing that's incred incredible and
23:59
this next Story Probably should have
24:00
been in our rumor section but we think
24:02
that the Zora is benchmarked by the
24:04
McLaren and the Ferrari hyper cars not
24:07
just the regular cars yeah we got two
24:09
new competitors for the Zora so I know
24:12
that's one of the things that we'll be
24:13
interested in seeing let's talk about
24:14
them real quick McLaren W1 yes a
24:17
Performance Hybrid with 1,258 horsepower
24:20
weighs only 3,300 lbs I think it's based
24:23
on some of their F1 work that they've
24:25
done before and then in the other Corner
24:27
this Contender for ferari f80 a 3 l twin
24:30
turbo V6 with three electric motors to
24:32
make 1,184 horsepower both of these cars
24:36
will feature seven bigger price tags the
24:38
W1 starts at 2.1 million and the f80
24:40
will set you back 3.92 five million and
24:43
that's the start you know oh if I want
24:45
that paint that's gonna add 25,000 if
24:47
you want this it's gonna add 30,000 so
24:49
it's probably pretty interesting but
24:51
meanwhile you know we've got our
24:52
Corvette team if we're going to get that
24:54
1,224 out of the Zora we might be a
24:57
little competitive although we're
24:58
definitely going to be a little bit
24:59
heavier than these cars yeah and for the
25:01
McLaren the W1 replaces the F1 and the
25:04
P1 so that's going to be their new Halo
25:06
car and then for Ferrari the f80 will
25:09
replace the La Ferrari so these are big
25:11
big cars that haven't even really come
25:13
out yet so the zor is going to be really
25:15
benchmarked against some really really
25:17
great cars yeah I wonder if somebody
25:19
from GM's going to make the pitch hey
25:21
you know we need to buy a new f80 to you
25:22
know test it out against our because
25:25
that's what they did with the sf90 yeah
25:27
that's basically true isn't it uhhuh
25:29
well that'd be pretty cool and that's
25:31
some great competition for sure you know
25:33
Keith I was watching television I saw
25:35
this Pepsi commercial and there's a blue
25:37
C8 Corvette in the commercial what's
25:38
going on with that yeah I was watching
25:40
the baseball playoffs and there it was
25:42
I'm like I've not seen this before it's
25:44
a commercial they call it Chase your
25:46
pizza with Pepsi and the premise of the
25:48
commercial is that Pepsi reps in the C8
25:50
Corvette are essentially chasing down
25:52
pizza delivery drivers and they run up
25:54
to the door and they offer the customers
25:55
a 12-pack of Pepsi to chase your pizza
25:57
with we've actually found the commercial
25:59
to be pretty hilarious I think one of
26:01
the funniest parts is at the end the
26:03
stingray is doing donuts and you hear
26:05
the passenger say there's nothing to
26:06
grab on to as he's trying to hold
26:08
himself steady so see even the Pepsi man
26:11
thinks that the C8 should have a grab
26:13
handle for those quote shut the front
26:15
door moments yeah for sure our final
26:18
story buddy this is actually pretty cool
26:20
Nicholas Cage just sold a 1969 Corvette
26:23
on bring a trailer yeah actually it
26:25
wasn't him but it was a car that he
26:27
previously owned okay you know he had a
26:29
pretty extensive collection going back
26:30
this is just one of his cars is a
26:32
beautiful Cortez silver silver interior
26:35
427 with a 390 horsepower v8 in it the
26:38
auction ended with the car selling for
26:41
55553 so got a really good price on a
26:44
427 1969 Corvette the Providence of
26:47
having something owned by Nicholas Cage
26:49
would be pretty cool my wife would like
26:50
to have that car she's a big nicholos
26:52
cage fan I wish I had known I would have
26:54
been on it on bringing a trailer for so
26:56
here honey here's a Corvette for you and
26:58
it used to be owned by Nicholas Cage
27:00
there you go you're welcome very
27:02
much well buddy it's great to have you
