3:43
welcoming Corvette enthusiasts from
3:45
around the world all right my friend
3:46
it's time to bring you the latest
3:48
Corvette news and headlines usually
3:49
Keith cornette from Corvette blogger.com
3:51
is with me every other week Keith lives
3:54
in Tampa Florida and Keith has suffered
3:56
from not only hurricane Helen but also
3:58
hurricane Milton he's in the middle of
4:01
recovery for Hurricane Milton he has no
4:03
power at the house but everything looks
4:05
pretty good I wish Keith and his family
4:07
and everybody in Florida a speedy
4:09
recovery but we do have Corvette news
4:11
and headlines let's start off with the
4:13
latest Corvette production update from
4:15
the Bowling Green assembly plant and
4:17
looking over Richard ke's Graphics it
4:19
looks like last week in Stingray now
4:21
these are 2025 cars they produce 740
4:24
stingrays the week before
4:26
714 want to give you the last two we
4:28
update because we reported on this two
4:31
weeks ago that makes
4:33
1,454 Stingrays in the last 2 weeks z6s
4:37
last week we did 51 z6s and the week
4:40
before that was 115 z6s for a total of
4:45
166 with eays last week they produced 45
4:48
eays the week before 50 eays for a total
4:52
of 95 so it looks like production for
4:54
the 2025 model year is going along
4:56
pretty good in studying this graphic
4:59
that Richard Keel puts out it looks like
5:01
the first two weeks of the month go
5:03
along pretty regularly but it looks like
5:05
the last two weeks of every month it
5:06
seems like production really ramps up
5:08
really really hard so I think numbers
5:10
look pretty good and things are going
5:12
along pretty well I think that if you're
5:14
getting a stingray you got lots to
5:16
choose from also in the news there's a
5:19
story about temporary workers at the
5:21
Bowling Green assembly plant may be let
5:23
go due to a disagreement with the local
5:25
UAW here's the backstory on that there's
5:28
about 25 workers the Bowling Green
5:30
assembly plant and then about 275
5:33
workers at the Fort Wayne Assembly Plant
5:35
in Indiana where Chevrolet makes the
5:37
Silverado and the GMC Sierra pickup
5:40
basically what's going on here is GM
5:42
recently had sent letters to local UAW
5:45
leaders telling them that if they didn't
5:47
sign letters of agreement keeping the
5:49
workers as part-time temporary workers
5:52
instead of making them full-time temps
5:54
or permanent workers they would be let
5:56
go by the end of last month and that's
5:58
according to a story from the Detroit
6:00
Free Press there's a GM spokesperson
6:02
named Tera kunan that said in a
6:04
statement last week without those signed
6:06
agreements Provisions for the 2019
6:09
National UAW GM contract allow the
6:11
release of these temporary workers at
6:13
both of these plans in fact the
6:15
temporary workers at Bowling Green
6:17
assembly have also received a letter on
6:19
September 27th saying that would be
6:21
their last day GM told the plant manager
6:24
Bowling Green assembly that he can have
6:25
up to 80 full-time temporary people
6:28
going forward for the next quarter but
6:29
he's not willing and wants to keep them
6:31
part-time the union doesn't want to
6:33
string these people along as part-timers
6:35
when you can make them fulltime as a
6:37
matter of fact the Bowling Green
6:38
assembly plant is underst staffed and
6:40
has full-time openings and especially
6:42
with the ZR1 coming out when you have a
6:44
first launch like that a product like
6:46
that takes a lot of Manpower we'll keep
6:48
on top of that story and find out more
6:50
and report back as we get more
6:52
information also Chev dropped a new ZR1
6:55
video late last week it's in the
6:56
Corvette Insider Series this video
6:59
features ZR1 lead development engineer
7:01
Chris Barber he talks about the turbo
7:03
Driving Experience of the new ZR1 and
7:06
how it can either be a borderline race
7:08
car or a daily commuter vehicle and I
7:10
quote here from Chris Barber I think the
7:12
most memorable thing about the ZR1 is
7:14
going to be the turbo experience turbo
7:16
engines respond you know very
7:18
differently from naturally aspirated
7:20
engines and we wanted to make the entire
7:22
car kind of align with that behavior and
7:24
I think we really hit the mark with this
7:26
one the ZR1 does not taper off it's very
7:29
very f fast and it just continues to
7:30
pull and really sets itself apart from
7:32
the competitions at that high speed
7:35
unreal performance is hard to put into
7:36
words and the Corvette ZR1 is a
7:38
turbocharged superstar that doesn't
7:40
taper off it's both a commuter car and a
7:43
street legal borderline race car Chris
7:45
Barber again is the lead development
7:47
engineer and he explains how it sets
7:49
itself apart with 1,000 plus horsepower
7:52
at those speeds as a matter of fact
7:54
coming up on Corvette today within the
7:56
next four weeks we'll have Corvette
7:58
brand manager Haren Charles talking
7:59
about the ZR1 and we'll also have Jordan
8:02
Lee the global chief engineer for small
8:04
block engines for General Motors and
8:07
also Dustin Gardner the assistant chief
8:09
engineer for small block engines for
8:11
General Motors on the show talking about
8:13
the new ZR1 that's coming up real soon
8:16
also speaking of the ZR1 if you're
8:18
wondering why there's no active Arrow
8:20
our retired executive chief engineer Tad
8:22
juer explains that and it's really
8:24
pretty simple for years there's been a
8:26
rumor about the eighth generation
8:28
Corvette ZR1 having active Arrow now
8:31
that it's 1,64 horsepower and it's
8:33
officially been unveiled there's no
8:35
active Arrow system to be found Tad
8:37
explains it's a very very simple
8:39
explanation he said in a nutshell no
8:41
active Arrow because the fixed arrow
8:44
that you see on Corvette race cars does
8:45
the trick it's very very powerful the
8:48
lift to drag ratio is really good he
8:50
says his engineering team discovered
8:52
that during development activ Aro would
8:54
have been just for aesthetic purposes
8:56
which really goes against Corvette's
8:58
entire thinking and philosophy y Tad
9:00
says almost every active Aro system that
9:02
we've had the opportunity to test is
9:05
there to make an aesthetic possible so
9:07
when the active arrow is deployed it's
9:09
both lower drag and more downforce
9:11
because it achieves both why not just
9:13
leave it deployed all the time that
9:14
makes good Common Sense doesn't it Taj
9:17
also says it's not like trading one for
9:18
the other so why not leave it on all the
9:21
time that makes sense to me too our
9:23
final news story Chevy has sent out an
9:25
email saying that there's a new software
9:27
update notification that requires a
9:29
visit to the dealership so one of the
9:31
advantages of GM's Global b electrical
9:34
architecture is that the new C8 Corvette
9:36
can handle large amounts of data over
9:38
the air so Chevrolet has issued a TSB a
9:42
technical service bulletin and updates
9:44
your BCM software it says the BCM
9:46
software in certain cars may be
9:48
preventing over-the-air updates from
9:50
progressing past the initial step the
9:52
reason they want you to go to a
9:53
dealership is that this update
9:55
specifically targets the otaa update
9:57
system the new updates can be FL on your
10:00
Corvette the software update should help
10:01
fix those issues where the battery May
10:03
drain while the update is being
10:05
installed if the battery drains too much
10:07
the update won't be completed and it
10:09
could lead to other issues on restarting
10:11
your car with the update done at the
10:13
dealership the service teex will be able
10:14
to reprogram the BCM and GM says that
10:17
this process should take less than an
10:19
hour as a matter of fact I had mine done
10:21
last week and it did take less than an
10:23
hour it was simple easy peasy let's take
10:26
our first break when we come back we'll

14:11
from Hurricane Helen and also hurricane
14:13
Melton in the second segment we always
14:15
talk about Corvette racing and Corvette
14:17
rumors first off we'll talk about
14:19
Corvette racing we had a race on
14:21
Saturday last week it's the petite Lama
14:24
done at Road Atlanta as a matter of fact
14:26
three of the first year Corvette Z6 G
14:29
t3rs will be racing this will be their
14:30
final race for 2024 the number three and
14:33
number four car for Corvette racing by
14:35
pratton Miller Motorsports in the GTD
14:38
Pro category along with the number 13
14:40
GTD entry from AWA here's the lineup
14:44
that raced on Saturday since we record
14:46
this on Friday the day before the race
14:48
we'll have the final results for you on
14:49
the next news and headline show coming
14:51
up in two weeks but the racing lineup
14:53
includes Antonio Garcia Alexander Sims
14:56
and Daniel juncadella that'll be in in
14:59
the number three Corvette Tommy Milner
15:01
Nikki catsburg and Earl Bamber will be
15:03
in the number four Z6 gt3r and then ory
15:07
fidani Matt Bell and LS Kar will be
15:09
racing in the AWA Corvette again we'll
15:12
give you results coming up on our next
15:14
news and headlines show here on Corvette
15:16
today in the rumors category remember we
15:19
were looking for a Z06 time on the nurur
15:21
ring well Christian GB Hart from the
15:23
German Auto magazine called autop Sport
15:26
and their series on the nurur ring Super
15:28
Test remember we had talked about
15:29
previously the Corvette engineering team
15:31
took a US spec c806 on the nurburg ring
15:35
in September and did some testing times
15:37
for a couple weeks well Christian
15:39
reports on his Instagram page that the
15:41
Z6 Nord lifa lap was recorded and it was
15:44
the fastest autop sport lap time in the
15:46
2024 season he thanks the Corvette team
15:49
and also Michelin for helping them out
15:51
he says you'll be able to read the
15:53
results in autop sport and watch the
15:55
labs on the sport Auto YouTube channel
15:57
we'll be looking for that hopefully in
15:58
the next two weeks or so we'll have that
16:00
and we'll post a video of it when it
16:02
becomes available also in the rumors
16:04
category we think we saw some Zoras
16:06
being tested in Western Denver Colorado
16:09
now we think that these are high
16:10
performance Zora hybrids but we didn't
16:13
get a chance to get any pictures of the
16:15
front grill showing that hybrid cooling
16:17
system that's usually mounted on the
16:19
driver's front side corner what we do
16:21
see is seven prototypes for the C8 in a
16:23
hotel parking lot and they're obviously
16:25
covered but they're ranging from base
16:27
models all the way up to Zo six style
16:29
wings and then there's even a ztk big
16:32
Wing there as well there's coups and
16:34
convertibles and all this was posted on
16:36
the Colorado carspotters page on
16:38
Facebook if the ZR1 is as good as it is
16:41
with 1,64 horsepower can you imagine
16:44
what the zor is going to be can't wait
16:46
for that car either let's take our final
16:48
break when we come back we'll talk about
16:49
the lighter side of Corvette coming up
16:51

19:54
docomo Steve Garrett usually Keith
19:56
cornette is with me this is the very
19:58
first time in over 5 years that
20:00
unfortunately Keith had to miss he was
20:02
right in the line of hurricane Milton so
20:04
Keith is back home recovering from the
20:06
hurricane in this third and final
20:08
segment we always talk about the lighter
20:10
side of Corvette and this story is
20:12
really really cool a complete set of C4
20:15
zr1's headed to Barrett Jackson in
20:17
Scottdale last weekend now obviously we
20:19
don't have the results of this because
20:21
we recorded the day before on Friday but
20:23
this is really really cool because they
20:25
come from Montana collector Dave
20:27
wrestler Dave has always been really
20:29
well known in the Corvette industry and
20:31
The Collector industry he sadly passed
20:34
away in
20:35
2017 so now his family is starting the
20:37
beginning of selling off his extensive
20:39
collection he has a complete set of
20:41
zr1's that are all Bloomington gold they
20:44
either have two or three miles on the
20:46
odometer heck some even have plastic
20:49
still on the door Sills but let me go
20:50
over these zr1's because they are really
20:52
really amazing the first one is a 1990
20:56
black black ZR1 the second one one is a
20:59
1991 blue steel and blue ZR1 then he
21:03
also has a 1992 white onwhite ZR1 and
21:07
there's also a 40th anniversary 1993 ZR1
21:12
also in there is a 1994 polo green with
21:15
a beige interior ZR1 a 1995 competition
21:19
yellow and beige interior ZR1 these cars
21:22
are really cool and people are lining up
21:24
to get these cars in the next news and
21:26
headline show we will let you know what
21:28
they sold for here on Corvette today
21:30
also one of the new options available
21:32
for the 2025 Corvette is an engine
21:35
specifications plaque that gets
21:37
installed inside the engine bay and we
21:38
got our first look at it for the Z6 the
21:41
plaque offers engine specs about the lt6
21:44
Z6 engine they will also have it for the
21:46
lt2 stingray and the r-ray but right now
21:50
the lpo code is sl9 and it's only $95
21:54
which is pretty cool right now they've
21:56
got Z6 out but basically it sits on the
21:59
seill right between the engine bay and
22:01
the trunk area the GM part number for it
22:04
is
22:05
8781
22:07
18062
22:08
8781
22:10
18062 we've only seen the Z6 spec plaque
22:13
so far but we're looking for the
22:14
stingray and r-ray which I'm sure will
22:16
be coming out pretty soon our final
22:19
story I want to talk a little bit more
22:20
about Keith cornette As I told you
22:22
earlier Keith lives in Tampa and he's
22:24
been in two hurricanes in just 13 days
22:27
with Helen he almost lost his 66
22:29
Corvette that was his father's car
22:32
unfortunately ke has been having some
22:34
carburetor problems with the Corvette so
22:36
he left the Corvette in the garage
22:37
during Helen and it almost came up and
22:40
took the car luckily it didn't it only
22:42
came up about 6 in so he was saved from
22:44
that but they had to pull his wife's
22:46
horse there too many horses out of the
22:48
farm area in the back and put them into
22:50
the backyard because there's only about
22:52
3 in of water in the
22:54
backyard ironically Keith also has a koi
22:58
pond and he said there are some fish
22:59
swimming in the backyard but once the
23:01
water receded they all went back into
23:04
the pond which worked out really really
23:06
well they did have a pig that didn't
23:08
make it and they have honeybee hives
23:10
that also got wiped out as well luckily
23:12
the water receded I'm not sure exactly
23:15
how he's doing with hurricane Milton I
23:17
know that it was a much bigger storm so
23:19
they're in the process of recovering
23:21
from that we wish Keith and everybody in
23:23
the State of Florida not just Corvette
23:25
owners the very very best hopefully you
23:28
have haven't been totally devastated
23:30
you'll get power back and everything can
23:31
come back and you can recover very
23:33
quickly I know that for Hurricane Milton
23:36
Keith was able to move the Corvette into
23:38
Higher Ground into a public garage for
23:40
parking amongst a lot of Corvettes
23:43
Ferraris and Porsches thanks for
23:44
listening to our news and headline show
23:47
all the best goes out to my buddy Keith
23:48
Cornett at Corvette blogger hopefully a
23:50
speedy recovery for them and everybody
