stuff for the most part i know that again pricing you know some people are disappointed we'll talk about that in a second yeah but for the most part things

are good in corvette world looks like things are moving forward so excited to talk about all the news and latest happenings let's dive into it buddy

let's start as we usually do with the latest production update from the bowling green assembly plant yeah well

as you remember the plant was off for a week of july 4th for their annual summer shutdown that's written in their

contracts that gives them the ability to plan for vacations and stuff actually the shutdown was only four days since

that july 4th was a monday and a federal holiday but since then we've actually had two really solid weeks of production

numbers wise were right around 6 300 corvette stingrays produced for the 2023

model year we've got a stingray order cycle happening this week and we're hearing some good things now about the 70th anniversary wheels and magnetic

ride control so i would say that on the production front things are looking pretty good right now and of course you know when you take a week off hopefully

their plan is still receiving all these parts and things for future production so maybe they got a little chance to

bank some parts especially those parts that might be causing issues with producing cars so it looks all good

right now steve very happy with the way things are looking that's great news and you had alluded to this buddy but the stingrays 70th anniversary wheels that

were on constraint is now lifted isn't it yeah this constraint's been going on since mid-may or so the idea behind the

70th anniversary is it's a special anniversary car but it's not limited production so basically anyone can order

one but the problem was these redlined wheels with the 20 spokes on them they were just were in constraint for the

longest time we actually saw our friend mike furman get one of the first ones a white parole edition a few more went out

we saw seoka went one but now it really looks like things are going to start moving forward we got notifications that

dealers are going to probably see tpw's as early as august 8th on some 70th anniversary models the other good news

is that the other constraint that we've had since around april or may has been the magnetic ride control it really

looks like we're nearly back to normal i won't say we're 100 back to normal there might be a couple dealers here and there

that say i i can only do this or i can't do that but for the most part it looks like magnetic ride is back as well so

good news again on the corvette ordering front and the production front as well that's fantastic buddy and keith and i

that the 1lz coupe will start at 106 395 dollars while the 1lz convertible starts

i know our friends over at bidding corvette forum had a contest nobody guessed a hundred and six thousand three ninety five right it

wasn't that they didn't guess the 395 part they didn't guess the 106 part so it's definitely a strong number there's

some things going on behind the scenes that i wish we knew exactly what was going on obviously very strong pricing

which takes into effect the global rise and raw materials and shipping and fuel costs and then i'm sure that chevy bean

counters also looked at four years of pretty much being sold out and said gee you know we could slap another five ten

grand on this car and nobody would notice it's just one of these things i think there's a number of combinations

but you know these z06 numbers they're very strong but yet it is america's next supercar i mean this car is going to do

things if we expect it to do that a corvette has never done before and of course you know you've got the bespoke

engine all that carbon fiber on the card this thing's a monster it might not be a car for everybody although everybody

wants it so that's kind of the thing to kind of remember going over some of the pricing again you know i told you 106

395 is the starting price the z07 package runs 89.95 but you have to order

the mandatory carbon aero package and those arrow packages start at 84.95 for the carbon flash versions or 10495 for

the visible carbon fiber that z07 package is a big hill to climb if that's something you want there with those two

of course the base z07 package will cost you 123 885 that's for the 1lz coupe with the

carbon flash metallic i did a max price as well just to see what it would be and this is again just the main options this

doesn't take into account all the other stuff that you might add like level 2 carbon fiber interior packages the competition seats or anything like that

from gm finance and really the team was out of it once they put together all the packages and everything they're out of

it in terms of how it gets priced there's going to be some more news that comes out and guess about what's exactly

going to happen with this kind of stuff and there's some interesting rumors out there as well about pricing we're just going to see what happens once ordering

starts once the constraints are listed and then of course once allocations are given out to dealers that's all the next

few things that are on our list here right and we have pricing for canada as well oh boy yeah these are canadian

dollars which are running a little bit more than the american dollars but their one lz coupe started 128 000 198 and

their base convertible start at 137 000 wow they'll add 10 344 for the z07

performance package and their visible carbon wheels start at 13 794 and the 11

000 494 for the carbon flash they're getting some strong prices there well i can't even imagine what they're gonna be

in australia i know that their australian dollar is a lot higher so it'll be interesting to see what their

pricing is ordering for the canada z06s starts the same time in the u.s oh good we're going to open up on july 28th for

them as well that sounds great orders start on july 28th but that doesn't necessarily mean that the order goes in

it's accepted and they start building your car there is a catch correct well yeah what we found out is that july 28

when those orders go in those are basically preliminary orders so you put those orders in dealers can add them

they do get accepted by gm but they're only at 1100. okay so they're accepted meaning that yeah we got it we see it

here basically what gm is saying in that order status and what's going on is people are constantly changing their orders right now with the pricing out

we're expecting the order guide here shortly some people are gonna see that oh i can't get that with this or i want that with this so that might change

orders any of these preliminary orders can be changed in the order system but we've actually heard from some dealers

that say nope we're not going to add preliminary orders until we know exactly what's on constraint how many allocations we're going to get and any

other information that we need so that we're not doing this two and three or four times for the same order to get it right there's a little bit of that going

on right now once these orders go in there it could be weeks before the first dealer ordering system opens and that's

where the orders are paired with an available allocation we're hearing maybe now mid-august for that part to happen

and then of course that would put up production for the car sometime in september we've always said early september but if it goes to mid-august

ordering i always throw the six weeks on there and then that puts production actually starting towards the end of

september but again that's just supposition on our part based on what we're seeing there's a lot still going on we got the again i alluded to the

order guide we're expecting that as soon as today on the 25th dealers of course waiting to see what kind of allocations

they get and then customers are still waiting on that order guide to see when they can fire up still a lot to go on even though we're ordering on the 28th

those are preliminary orders and there's still going to be some time so your patience is going to be required just a little bit longer steve i know i know

it's kind of crazy but that's what it is patience is a virtue also keith i saw that there's a handful of z06 accessory

options that might not be available when ordering opens up next week and damn it it's all carbon fiber

yes it is steven i knew that you would be upset about that as well now there's no official constraints yet for the z06

that have been listed but on the visualizer there have been some new parts that were added later and then

they're tagged with late availability and we saw this exactly happen again with the stingrays when they came out in

february 2020. all of a sudden the 5vm was late availability we had problems with the high wings and some other

things there a lot of these are the carbon fiber pieces that we've actually heard that maybe there's some issues with gm's carbon fiber people of course

there's the engine appearance package that's no longer available then just some other things going on so here's what we're looking at these late

availability terms and some of this was also confirmed by harlan charles on the music corvette forum as well they include that lt6 x-brace this is this

x-brace that goes across the engine right we saw that on a sema car on the stingray but this llt6x brace has a

official gm part it actually shows up there and you can see that but it's not going to be available yet okay the other

thing that's really surprising is those carbon fiber engine covers these are these u-shaped i call them the horse

collars but they're the ones that kind of wrap around the top of the engine it's got the corvette cross flags on the top there and then at the bottom of it

is where that hero bridge goes where the plaque is of the engine builder right that carbon fiber assembly is not going

to be available that's going to be very disappointing for those people what else we got we got carbon fiber grill inserts

the visible carbon fiber accessory spoilers those are late availabilities and what was really surprising were the

carbon fiber mirror caps and these are the same as the stingray but it looks like that these are going to be in high

demand and we actually learned that gm is pulling back these parts from suppliers and to use them in production

as well like you said mostly carbon fiber stuff that's going to be termed late availability the good news is that

these aren't mechanical items these are appearance items and they can be added once they're available you can order them through the corvette accessories

page or through your dealer at the parts counter there a little bit late but it's not going to be impossible to get these

the national corvette museum's motorsports park is getting almost two and a half million dollars worth of improvements that was really good

considering that they had a big tornado went through there yeah that december 10th overnight tornado that ripped

through bowling green and it damaged the assembly plan it caught the roof on fire but it really nailed the ncm motorsports

park the holiday control tower lost part of their walls and ceiling major damage done to the kimberly a fast pavilion

where a lot of the garages are and some of the other things that go on there really a lot of damage so they've been taking their time they've been doing

some repairs they've got temporary buildings so that they can host all their summer events going on right now

but what the ncm just announced is that this money is actually going to go part of it will go to the holiday control tower and they're going to expand that

they're actually going to do stuff like a rooftop bar expanded observation deck there'll be additional classroom space

there's going to be an event rental space and then a fully operational catering kitchen and that's just in the control tower over in the kimberley a

fast pavilion they're going to set up like a quick service dining and a fully operational kitchen it'll be an expanded

viewing area for spectators and also trackside patio with seating so people can watch the cars as they go by the

track they've got actually artist renditions out of the new architecture and the buildings there looks really

rumors keith let's talk about how corvette racing did at lime rock park last weekend well steve that was a good

race for corvette racing there at the beginning it was an all gtt race so we were running to win that race overall

but yet we had a little contact with another gtd car about midway through and it really threw us for a loop it broke

the suspension we lost about five or six laps we were able to get the car back on the track we were able to finish the

race but for us contending for any kind of season championship that really hurt us and in fact i think the number nine

porsche team is pretty much going to be able to run away with this there's only three races left our next one is coming

up august 7th at road america it was a fun race to watch the beginning we were there we had a good strategy i think it

just kind of got away from us there at the end and it wasn't even any malicious contact it just looked like the two cars were going side by side and they just

barely touched but it did some damage to the corvette and that was enough wow sad to hear buddy let's get to corvette

rumors though keith at the nurburgring last week there was a z06 and an all-wheel drive e-ray testing on the

track that was good to see yeah we've kind of heard some buzzing about the nurburg track for the last few weeks

didn't really say anything just wanted to see what would happen and sure enough we got the word on monday that they were there with track testing starting on

tuesday what we've learned is there's at least three e-ray prototypes in camo and then there's several painted z06s that

are running around on the streets and we know that because we have a contact with a ring photographer who sent us those

first spy shots and then we also have a video of the e-rays running on the track as well i always say this people

constantly say oh you know i just love the sound of corvettes with their v8 engines why would i want an electric car and the c-ray i have no interest in well

if you watch the video all you're going to hear is that 495 horsepower lt2 engine we don't know what those front

motors are doing because they're silent but yet we can hear the engine this is a hybrid version we don't even expect it

to be a plug-in hybrid we expected just to have the batteries recharged through energy from the braking and other

systems but it's good to see these cars finally out there these e-rays they were running with the wide bodies we saw them

with the carbon fiber wheels same as the z06 they were actually also wearing the spider forged wheels same as the z06 one

of the interesting things we found was that as we were able to zoom in on them the brake rotors are actually drilled

which is unlike any other brake rotors we've seen so far on the c8 era wow and then the e-rays are wearing a spoiler

and it turns out it looks exactly like that z06 carbon fiber spoiler we talked about

just in the last segment some very interesting cars any kind of laps or what they're doing we don't know we

think this is just for testing and validation but the rumor is the team is going to try to get a z06 fast lap in a

time lap on the nurburgring as well i haven't heard anything yet it's still early of course we are recording this on

friday so there could have been something that happened thursday night but it's exciting things and just please

god let us have a fast lap a time lap that we can boast about because it seems like we've been floored in the last few

times we've been out there we were out there last year we were scheduled to do it and two cars in front of us got in

crashes and then they closed the track so we never got a shot there some good stuff happening gm president mark royce

said in april and on cnbc that we could see the hybrid corvette sometime next year that would make this a 2024 model

and just based on the testing cadence that we've seen especially with the stingray and then the z06 and then we

see the e-rays testing it certainly looks like we're going to have some e-rate models in 2023 for the 2024 model

year i hope so and you know we've been snake bitten at the nurburgring all the way back to the c7 so i hope we get some

fast laughs and sometimes yes here in america another z06 mule was spotted in

cheyenne what's going on with that car we just get these sightings randomly this is before pricing so we're always

constantly trying to keep our audience informed and entertained and keep them motivated hey these cars are coming

they're testing them that car was interesting it was just out there it seemed to be by itself not part of a team and we wonder if like it was just

an engineering member that might be on vacation we've seen them do that they take these cars they test them everywhere they drive them everywhere so

take it on vacation if you're going to be driving some miles but there's constantly sightings and uh we like to bring them to you so that's what that's

all about maybe they're coming to my house they're out there close then if they're in cheyenne

also we saw a 70th anniversary z06 leave the bowling green assembly plant that's

new isn't it yeah that was pretty exciting because we had those drone shots so we talked about that a couple weeks ago where a user had flown a drone

over there and it looked like in the lineup of cars before they're being wrapped and then packed onto the transports there was a white pearl car

there with z06 with the z07 wing on the back we could see the emblem on the side and then it certainly looked like there

was a black one there are these the same two cars are they multiple cars now being built we're not sure yet but it

was interesting because we did get to see about five z06s leaving the plant in

this next one they actually one of them showed up in detroit so we saw that black car on the back of that transport

outside of detroit most likely they were going to milford in which case then they would be doled out to team members there

might be some cars going out to third-party testers but these anniversary cars most likely are one of

the first so we might see them at the next show we might see them out at carlisle or perhaps another location all
