from around the world at the beginning
3:16
of every year I always like to check in
3:18
with our friends at the National
3:19
Corvette Museum to see what's unta for
3:22
the upcoming year well today I have
3:24
marketing manager for the NCM Mariah
3:26
Hughes with me we're going to talk more
3:28
about everything coming up this year in
3:30
2024 Mariah welcome to Corvette today
3:33
thank you so much Steve for having me
3:35
I'm happy to be here mariia first off
3:38
let's talk about some of the exhibits
3:40
that are currently on display at the
3:42
National Corvette Museum even though
3:44
we're into January of 20124 what can
3:46
people see if they stop in today or
3:48
tomorrow well you can see anytime that
3:50
you stop in to the National Corvette
3:52
Museum and American love aair 70 years
3:55
of Corvette in our iconic Skydome and if
3:58
you haven't been to the museum in a
4:00
while the Skydome is going to look a
4:01
little different on the inside because
4:03
we have installed a 8 and 1/2t Tall 300t
4:07
long LED wall that we call skywall into
4:12
the sky dome so that you can get an
4:13
immersive experience on the 70 years of
4:16
Corvette history that is so cool and
4:18
we're going to talk a little bit more
4:19
about the skywall here in a minute yes
4:21
but let's review the hours of operation
4:24
they at the National Corvette Museum
4:26
well of course we have seasonal hours of
4:28
operation but for the listeners who are
4:29
hearing this in the winter of 2024 from
4:33
January 1 through February the 29th
4:35
because this year is a leap year we're
4:38
open Monday through Friday from 5: to
4:40
10m but we're closed on Tuesdays for
4:43
those two months we've got to get the
4:44
museum in shape for some new exhibits
4:46
that we have opening later this year and
4:48
on Saturdays and Sundays we're open from
4:50
9:00 to 5: now all of those times are
4:52
Central so make sure you're checking
4:54
your clock or your watch to make sure
4:56
that you've arrived at the museum at the
4:57
right time perfect now Mariah what one
4:59
of my favorite places at the museum is
5:01
the stingray Grill let's talk about the
5:03
restaurant and also tell me more about
5:05
Igloo dining yes so the stingray Grill
5:09
is sort of new to the museum it's been
5:11
around for a few years but it's an all
5:13
new dining experience and in the words
5:16
of Tom Peters he says it adds The Fifth
5:18
Element of taste to your overall
5:21
Corvette experience and in the summer of
5:23
2023 if you were watching Food Network
5:26
you might have seen the grill on an
5:27
episode of guys all am ameran Road Trip
5:30
the famous scaer came to the stingray
5:33
Grill and of course dined as well and
5:35
when you join us you can actually see
5:37
exactly what he ate while he was here
5:39
and what he recommends I think that we
5:41
recommend it too especially our
5:42
signature Stingray burger and if you
5:45
have not tried the Blackberry grilled
5:47
cheese let me tell you you are sorely
5:49
missing out that is one of my favorite
5:51
dishes that we have it's a grilled
5:53
cheese with a little bit of spice a
5:55
little bit of savory and a little bit of
5:57
sweet and I love everything of this
5:59
Stingray Grill I have not had anything
6:01
at the grill yet that I didn't like and
6:03
I like those two recommendations the
6:05
stingray Burger is great and the grilled
6:08
cheese is fantastic oh good I'm glad to
6:10
hear that you've had it and of course we
6:12
have the igloo available too for you
6:14
know make reservation down outside in a
6:17
climate controlled Igloo we got to make
6:19
sure it's nice and warm in there for you
6:21
because Kentucky winners can get a
6:22
little cold and those will be here
6:24
through Valentine's Day that sounds like
6:26
fun I'd love to try that out that would
6:28
be so cool if a Corvette Enthusiast
6:30
wants to join the National Corvette
6:32
Museum Mariah let's cover all the
6:33
different levels of memberships and the
6:35
cost thereof of course we have several
6:38
different levels of membership for an
6:40
individual yearly at $65 or a family for
6:43
a hundred a year we also have the senior
6:46
individual which is for those of us who
6:48
are 65 and up and that's $750 but it's
6:51
eligible for 20 years of course we have
6:54
our next Generation member two for our
6:56
youngest of Corvette fans we offer two
6:58
different price points for them that 0
7:00
to9 and 10 to 18 and then of course we
7:03
have our lifetime membership too for
7:05
those in-depth enthusiasts to be able to
7:06
join us that sounds good and I'm a
7:08
lifetime member and it's absolutely
7:10
fantastic I love being a lifetime member
7:12
of the museum well good I'm glad to hear
7:15
that we can't do it without our
7:16
membership and our donors that's for
7:18
sure absolutely right well Mariah let's
7:20
take our first break and when we come
7:22
back we're going to talk about future
7:23
events coming up this year at the
7:25

10:29
231 I'm your host Steve Garrett with me
10:31
today is National Corvette Museum's
10:33
marketing manager Mariah Hughes we're
10:36
talking about all things going on this
10:38
year at the National Corvette Museum in
10:40
the second segment we're going to talk
10:41
about events coming up Mariah one of my
10:44
favorite events is the NCM Michelin bash
10:47
talk about what's in store for this
10:48
year's bash and when is it this year
10:51
well now we are still in the planning
10:53
phase for this year's event so nothing
10:55
to announce quite yet but if you want to
10:58
be in and the first to know you can go
11:00
to the Museum's website and sign up to
11:03
join our mailing list and you'll get to
11:05
know about all of the fun things that we
11:07
have planned for bash first that sounds
11:09
like a great idea I mean I'm on the
11:11
mailing list and it's so many things
11:12
that come up that I just don't even know
11:14
about it's great to be on that mailing
11:16
list and this is a huge Year too because
11:19
coming up is the 25th anniversary for
11:21
the NCM Caravan and the anniversary
11:23
celebration and that's right before
11:25
Labor Day weekend isn't it it is but I'm
11:28
going to correct to you Steve it's
11:29
actually our 30th anniversary of the
11:32
museum in 2024 and the Caravan is coming
11:36
up registration for that event is open
11:39
and the event is from August 29th
11:41
through the 31st but you are definitely
11:44
going to need to find your local Caravan
11:46
Captain leader if you want to join us
11:48
because you may be leaving well before
11:50
the event starts so you can visit us
11:52
online at Corvette caravan.com and
11:54
select either your state or your region
11:57
to find the individual that you'll be
11:58
traveling with if you would like to join
12:00
a caravan to make your way to Bowling
12:02
Green Kentucky and they don't have to
12:04
actually join a caravan to participate
12:06
though do they you do not have to join
12:08
the Caravan to participate but if you
12:10
want to and travel as a group and make
12:13
many stops along the way you can
12:15
definitely link up with a local Captain
12:16
it's a lot of fun and there's hundreds
12:18
of people in each of the Caravans and I
12:20
think there's like 25 Caravans that'll
12:23
be converging on Bowling Green the week
12:25
before Labor Day so make sure you go to
12:27
Corvette caravan.com and get signed up
12:29
for sure Mariah let's talk about some of
12:32
the other events that are happening this
12:33
year at the National Corvette Museum of
12:36
course we'll have our annual vets and
12:37
vets event and like I said if you want
12:40
to be the first to know when
12:41
registration opens and when we announce
12:43
those dates for May you can sign up for
12:45
our events distribution list on our
12:47
website that sounds good are there any
12:49
other events besides vets for vets
12:51
coming up at the Museum this year just
12:53
that this year it's a caravan year so
12:55
things are a little different around
12:57
here gotcha that sounds good good all
12:59
right let's also talk about Museum in
13:01
motion that program is so cool and so
13:04
popular what kind of trips are planned
13:06
this year for the museum in motion and
13:08
tell everybody what that is all about so
13:10
the museum in motion program is a
13:13
program for Corvette owners and
13:15
enthusiasts to join together and travel
13:18
to different destinations across the
13:20
United States and internationally so
13:23
this also gives you many VIP and behind
13:25
the scenes opportunities that only the
13:28
museum get you so if you want to travel
13:30
with a group of like-minded corv
13:32
individuals we highly recommend that you
13:34
sign up for some of our Museum and
13:35
motion programs we've got a great lineup
13:38
for 2024 first things first we're headed
13:41
to the 24 Hours of Daytona Rolex and
13:44
Daytona Florida now that event is sold
13:46
out but you can join our wait list if
13:49
you send an email to the events team
13:51
then right after that we've got
13:53
builtmore which is our Dragon run
13:55
presented by Michelin that takes you
13:57
through the Tail of the Dragon and right
13:59
to the builtmore estate and that leaves
14:01
right after our bash event so you don't
14:03
even have to go home you can just hang
14:04
with us for an extra day and it's from
14:06
April 28th through May the 1st
14:08
registration is open for that program
14:11
and then of course back by popular
14:13
demand is our Lama tour from June 8th to
14:17
June 18th of 2024 and if you want to
14:21
watch Lama in person this is the trip to
14:24
take and registration is open for that
14:27
as well it's going to travel to several
14:29
different destinations before ending up
14:31
at the race I know that I've had some
14:33
friends do both of those tours where
14:35
they did the tale of a dragon and then
14:37
did the built more hotel right after the
14:38
bash as you had said but I have some
14:40
friends that did the Lama trip and you
14:42
went to England for a week and then you
14:44
got into the 24 hours of Lama they said
14:47
that was a trip of a lifetime yes it's
14:49
definitely a trip and if you've ever
14:51
considered international travel
14:52
especially to go to a race this is the
14:55
one to do trust me that sounds like so
14:58
much fun well Mariah let's take our
15:00
final break and when we come back we're
15:02
going to talk more about what's new for
15:03
2024 at the National Corvette Museum
15:06
here on Corvette

4231 I'm your host Steve Garrett with me
18:19
is the National Corvette Museum's
18:21
marketing manager Mariah Hughes in this
18:23
final segment we're going to talk about
18:25
what's new for this year Mariah I know
18:27
you have a big list of things that are
18:28
coming up for the National Corvette
18:30
Museum this year let's overview all the
18:32
new exhibits plus some of the events
18:34
that we haven't discussed yet of course
18:37
so first up opening on March 15th to the
18:40
public in our limited engagement Gallery
18:42
is luster realism and Hyper realism in
18:46
contemporary automobile and motorcycle
18:49
painting so let me tell you I have the
18:51
chance to see a couple of these
18:52
paintings and they are absolutely
18:55
breathtaking it's about 55 paintings
18:57
overall all in it features 15 of today's
19:00
realist and hyperrealist artists who
19:02
specialize in automobiles and
19:04
motorcycles as their subject choice and
19:07
when you look at these they don't even
19:09
look like art they look like you took a
19:10
picture of a different vehicle or a
19:12
motorcycle that has just troll down the
19:14
street in front of you they are
19:16
absolutely breathtaking and of course in
19:18
that room we're going to have some
19:19
automobiles too including a 1937 cord
19:23
812 on loan from the Auburn Court
19:25
dusenberg Museum in Auburn Indiana
19:28
that's going to be really exciting
19:30
that's cool now let's also talk about
19:32
the Corvette store there at the Museum
19:35
because there's an updated website for
19:36
the store and there's a lot of things
19:38
going on there isn't there yes of course
19:41
our Corvett store.com has had a
19:42
completely new shopping experience so
19:44
that we can help tailor exactly what our
19:46
customers are looking for as it relates
19:48
to Corvette merchandise through the
19:50
generations so we definitely want you to
19:52
check it out there and Shop all of the
19:54
great items that we have on the Corvette
19:55
store but new for the Corvette store in
19:58
2024 is we are also opening what we call
20:01
the vintage shop so if you're looking
20:03
for retro or vintage Corvette apparel
20:06
you can stay tuned to Corvett store.com
20:08
to find out when those product drops
20:10
will be and of course if you're
20:12
interested in donating items for tax
20:15
write off to the vintage shop you can
20:17
visit us online at Corvette museum.org
20:20
or Corvett store.com to learnhow that
20:22
sounds like fun and we should also tell
20:24
everybody if you're a member of the
20:26
museum whether you're a regular member
20:28
or even a lifetime member you get a
20:30
discount at the store don't you yes you
20:32
do all you've got to do is set up your
20:34
profile there you go also let's talk
20:36
about the new massive wall that you
20:38
talked about in the first segment at the
20:39
Museum because it's really awesome yes
20:42
so that is our Sky wall it's about 8 and
20:45
1/2 ft tall and about 300 feet long and
20:48
if you've been in our Skydome before you
20:50
kind of know how the shape of the room
20:52
flows well if you were to walk in now
20:54
that skywall is going to make it almost
20:56
all the way around the room giving you
20:58
an immersive experience into Corvette's
21:01
history now the content that's playing
21:03
on that wall is all about Corvette
21:05
through pop culture over its last 70
21:07
years that sounds cool and that can
21:09
change on the wall the different content
21:12
all during the year can't it correct
21:14
it'll rotate out every time that we have
21:16
a new exhibit in that space including
21:19
later this year when we open in October
21:22
an American love affair pop culture in
21:24
the Corvette oh that sounds like fun I'd
21:26
like to see that as well yeah yes well
21:28
Mariah finally let's give the Museum's
21:31
